Kermit Week’s has posted a major update with pictures on his blog about his Tempest V. This warbird is being restored to static condition with an option to restore to an airworthy condition. Hopefully this warbird will make it to the Fantasy of Flight museum in 2011.
VAC acquires a F-18 Hornet that was with the Blue Angels
According to the VAC website, they have acquired a F-18 that flew with the Blue Angels.
P-51, N55JL, “Cloud Dancer” previously at Leeward Air Ranch has been sold.
P-51, N55JL, “Cloud Dancer” previously owned by Jimmy Leeward and based Leeward Air Ranch has been sold. It is now based in Montana. More details can be found here.
Fantasy of Flight B-25 Apache Princess to start flying again
Fantasy of Flight announced via its e-newsletter that B-25 Apache Princess is undergoing maintenance to get it back in flying condition. From the newsletter “The current maintenance plan includes installing and plumbing a new fuel cell, repairing and running-up the aircraft’s two Wright R-2600 engines, and provided everything is A-OK, an annual inspection.”
VAC C-47 “Tico Belle” heading to Oshkosh and seats are available
The Valiant Air Command is selling seats for a ride to Oshkosh this year to be part of the big DC-3/C-47 flyby at the show. Seats are estimated to cost $650+ per and you must be a VAC member.
