There will be two featured aircraft at this year’s event – a Douglas C-54E and a FG-1D Corsair. The a Douglas C-54E “Spirit of Freedom” is a four-engine military transport aircraft used during World War II, the Korean War and the Berlin Airlift. This year commemorates the 70th anniversary of the historical 1948-1949 Berlin Airlift. Aviation Day visitors will step back in time as they view a flying museum and memorial housed in the interior of this original aircraft. The FG-1D Corsair “530” is a distinctively designed fighter plane that saw service primarily in World War II and the Korean War. The Corsair became the most capable carrier-based fighter bomber of World War II.
