Open Hangar Day, 6 January 18, American Aero Services, New Symnra Beach

American Aero Services will be hosting an Open Hangar Day at their facilities at KNSB on 6 January. I have been attending the past couple of years and it is highly recommended. On hand, should be the Collings Foundation’s B-24, B-17, P-51 Mustang, F4U Corsair and a host of other aircraft under restoration or storage. Military vehicles will be on site as well.

They have drinks, hamburgers and hot dogs for sale. Free admission to the event but a donation of pets supplies for the Southeastern Volusia Humane Society is appreciated.

Here are some link to a previous Open Hangar Day.

Kermit Weeks A-26 Project, Part III

Kermit Weeks posted these pictures (on Facebook) of the brand new 6 gun nose he had that will go on his A-26 project.

On the heels of the A-26 Video Part 2, we decided to outfit the airplane as it came out of the factory in WWII, which was with all the original wing gun packs and a 6-gun nose. Noses were interchangeable so we will also have on display, and for possible future use, a glass nose, as well as an eight-gun nose! (You can never have too many!)

After digging out the six-gun nose I had that, honestly, I didn’t even remember having, we discovered that other than a minor ding here and there, it’s BRAND NEW and has never been on an airplane! Wahoo!
