NNAM F4U-1 Birdcage Corsair restoration

Warbird News posted a great article on the restoration of the F4U-1 Birdcage Corsair at the National Naval Aviation Museum. Story can be found here: NNAM Birdcage Corsair

The Corsair’s rear fuselage. This area required a good deal of restoration, as the fuselage broke a few feet behind the cockpit during the crash. Unique to the variant, early -1 Corsairs had a life raft storage compartment in the turtle decking. KB-50 at MacDill AFB moves to Dover AFB

The KB-50 that has been at MacDill AFB for the past 15+ years has been moved by Worldwide Aircraft Recovery  to Dover AFB. The airframe will be cleaned up and fixed before going on display.
