Trip Report – CPL Larry E. Smedley National Vietnam War Museum, Orlando, Nov 2017

Located on the Southeast side of Orlando, is the CPL Larry E. Smedley National Vietnam War Museum, which honors the men and women that served in the Vietnam War. This was our first visit to the museum and there are a number of displays of land, air and water vehicles to see.

The museum is opne on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5PM. Suggest calling for visiting. For more details, please visit their website: http://originalbunker.org/

There is a cockpit section from a C-7A Caribou, SN 61-02389. This aircraft is an actual Air America veteran, having flown in Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam in the 1960’s and 1970’s. It is officially documented at the very last Air America aircraft to leave Laos in 1974 according to online references.

There is a US Navy Beech T-34C Turbo Mentor, SN GL-179 on site.

The ever popular Bell UH-1 Iroquois helicopter.

There is a US Navy Douglas A-4B Skyhawk, BuNo 142741.

And here are some photos of the land and water crafts.

Trip report — Deland Naval Air Station Museum, Nov 2017

Made a stop by the Deland Naval Air Station Museum to visit the work going on there. They are working to restore a TBF Avenger and a TV2 / T-33 Shooting Star, with displays of a F-14 and other Navy artifacts both inside and outside the museum. Great place to visit for a few hours, with awesome tour guides.

My visit was prior to the museum setting up a new building in front of the hangar.
