On November 10, 2010 the National Naval Aviation Museum’s Hangar Bay One will be celebrated as the newest addition to the museum. Up to 35 aircraft and aviation memorabilia will be in the hanger.

“The Gala, a black tie event celebrating Hangar Bay One* expansion, will be a salute to United States Naval Aviation history. The event will include a cocktail hour, seated dinner, music and live auction. Invitees include community members, active and retired flag officers, senior Naval officers from local commands, executives from the aerospace industry, Department of Defense officials and special guests from across our nation.”

Naval Aviation Museum acquires a SB2C Helldiver

The Naval Aviation Museum has acquired a SB2C-4 Helldiver that has been on the bottom of a lake near San Diego for the past 65 years. This is believed to be the only SB2C-4 in existence.

The Helldiver is now in Pensacola and at the museum. Photos here.
