New website layout for American Aero Services

The team over at American Aero Services have updated their website with new pictures and new layout. The site is nicely done. Current projects at their hangar include the A-36 Apache and Stinson L-1.

Here is a picture of the A-36 on its wheels with wings attached.

Restoration photos of F4U-1 (02465) at National Naval Aviation Museum

The last of the photo set shared by JohnK shows the progress of the restoration of F4U-1 (02465) at National Naval Aviation Museum.

This aircraft crashed in June 1943 in a landing mishap while shooting landings on the carrier Wolverine in Lake Michigan.

This rare birdcage Corsair is undergoing restoration for display hopefully in the next 3 years.

May 2011 CAF FL newsletter is online

The May 2011 edition of the Florida Wing, Commemorative Air Force’s Newsletter is available online. Coverage of the restoration of their TBF Avenger is the main news to include the  engine and propeller being mounted along with continued work on the fuselage, wings and bomb bay.

As a continuation of the restoration photos that JohnK from the WIX forum, here are some of photos iof the F6F-3 restoration taking place at the Naval Aviation Museum.

This aircraft crashed in Lake Michigan in 1945 and was recovered in late 2009. The recovery of this aircraft was sponsored by Enterprise Rent A Car CEO Andy Taylor and he requested that this aircraft be displayed as the one his father flew during the Second World War.
