Kermit Weeks, along with Zack Mosley of CAP and Smilin’ Jack fame are going to be inducted into the Florida Aviation Hall of Fame on 12 Dec 08 at the Sun N Fun museum in Lakeland. Mr Weeks is the owner of the Fantasy of Flight museum. More details about the ceremony to follow.
SBD Dauntless coming to New Symnra on 6 Dec 08
According to the “Timeless Wings and Wheels Museum’s” website, a SBD Dauntless will be available for rides on 6 Dec at the New Symnra Airport. I am guessing the Dauntless will be the one assigned to the Dixie Wing of the CAF based out of the Atlanta area.
P-51 N5444V update from American Aero, Nov 08
The American Aero webpage has been updated with new pictures of P-51 N5444V restoration. The wings and engine have been attached to the fuselage.
A-36 update from American Aero Services
American Aero Services has updated its site with some pictures of the A-36 restoration.
VAC Newsletter, Oct-Dec 08 is online
The Valiant Air Command have posted their Quarter 4 newsletter on their website.
Highlights include:
• Work on the 2009 airshow is underway. Dates are 13-15 March 09.
• C-47 “Tico Belle” is still under going maintenance to get it airworthy again. They have been doing some engine run-ups and found issues.
• Looks like they getting a L-5 Sentinel restoration project.
• They have sold their UVAC-66.
