Kermit Weeks and his desert storage stash

Kermit Weeks shared this picture via Facebook on 3 July of some of his aircraft located at the Aero Trader yard in California. Not sure if these will ever come to Florida but one can hope.

The A-20G Havoc, 43-22197, was owned by Howard Hughes at one point. The B-26C nose, 41-35075, was previously owned Charles Patterson of Pacific Palisades, who bought this nose in the late 40s. B-29 nose is either, 44-70049 or 44-84084, and both were rescued from China Lake NAS for the movie “The Last Flight of Noah’s Ark.”

Kermit Weeks A-26 Invader engine run-up

Today, Kermit Weeks posted a video of the engines being started on his A-26 that is being restored by Aero Trader in California. It has been over 25 years since the engines last were run on this aircraft. Hopefully it will be flying for 2021.

Vintage Aero C-47 “Hit and Miss”

Had a chance to take a road trip this past Saturday to attend the 76th Anniversary of D-Day Commemoration at the Zephyrhills Museum of Military History. The Commemoration was suppose to happen the previous weekend on 6 June, but the event was postponed a week due to weather concerns.

One of the C-47s on display is owned by Vintage Aero, which is based at the Zephyrhills airport. This C-47 is a World War 2 veteran with a history of serving from just past D-Day to include the paratroop and glider drops of Market Garden and supply runs during the Battle of the Bulge.

This aircraft returned to the states to serve a mosquito sprayer in Southwest Florida before being retired.
