I remember back in the early 2000’s, one of the tour guides at Fantasy of Flight stating that there was a P-47 in box on the other side of the field. This was back when the current “Museum Lite” was a maintenance facility and there was no tour access. Well, do to some on site work being done on containers (rust) and wooden shelves (termites), the container with the P-47 was opened.
Below are some of the photos of the P-47 that Kermit posted online of this Venezuelan Air Force P-47.
The Orlando Sanford International Airport recently opened a new section of their airport terminal which includes a display of a PV-1 Ventura. Also displayed is a RA-5 Vigilante at the entrance of the airport.
I have posted on the work being done on the Ventura a few times (from 2014) but the end result is amazing. Planning to contact the airport leadership to do a closer look in the near future.
Had more vacation time to use, so I made a stop by American Aero Services in New Smynra to see the continued work that they are doing. The B-17 is currently on stands with working being done on all parts of the aircraft.
P-51C is coming along nicely. Maybe end of the year for a first flight.
