There will be an Open Hangar Day at the American Aero Services hangar on 22 February. Aircraft on display should include the Colling’s Foundations bomber fleet as well as a P-51, F4U, TP-40, PBY and others.
ADMISSION: Pet food donation to the Southeast Volusia Humane Society — who will be on hand with adoptable dogs to collect the donations. This is a worthy cause and our support is needed. Animals are usually on site for adoption or just “plane” loving!
Food and drinks will be sold with profits going to the Southeast Volusia Humane Society.
NOTE: I guess I forgot to finish and publish my draft post on Sun N Fun 2019, so better late than ever.
I have been attending Sun N Fun since the every 1980s and every year is a bit different with the warbird attendance. The most anticipated display was the XP-82 Twin Mustang followed by a close second of the CAF’s C-47 “That’s All Brother.” The Vietnam battle was well done especially with the Skyraiders overhead “strafing” the field.
The Commemorative Air Forces P-51 “Red Tail” Mustang will be at Million Air in Tallahassee from 11-15 February. The RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit will be there as well to educate visitors on the history and legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen – America’s first black military pilots and their support personnel.
Access to NAS Pensacola, including the Museum and Lighthouse, remains available to Department of Defense ID cardholders and Veterans with a Veteran Health identification Card (VHIC) from the Department of Veterans Affairs only. The Trusted Travelers Program is still in effect and DoD ID cardholders can escort guests onto the installation and to the Museum and Lighthouse.
The following operations are open to those who possess a DOD ID:
· Giant Screen Theater open daily
· Flight Deck Store open Monday – Friday 9:30 – 3:30
· Cubi Bar and Cafe open daily 11:00 – 3:00
Due to limited base access, the Museum’s simulators are not operating at this time.
Thank you for your patience. Please continue to monitor the Museum’s website and social media pages as well as the NAS Pensacola page for updates.
