Commemorative Air Force “AirPower History” tour coming to Florida

The Commemorative Air Force has announced their AirPower History tour dates for Florida. Dates and locations are listed below and the aircraft on tour will vary. The main aircraft on tour will be the Commemorative Air Force’s B-29 “Fifi” and B-24 “Diamond Lil”.

Both aircraft tours and flights are available.

18 – 19 February, Tallahassee, Tallahassee International Airport
21 – 22 February, Tampa, Brooksville-Tampa Bay Regional Airport
24 – 26 February, Sarasota, Sarasota/Bradenton International Airport
2 – 5 March, Miami, Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport
7 – 8 March, Vero Beach, Vero Beach Regional Airport
10 – 12 March, Titusville, Space Coast Regional Airport
14 – 15 March, Orlando, Orlando Sanford International Airport
17 – 19 March, Daytona Beach, Daytona Beach International Airport

Trip report: American Aero Services

I have made a few other posts on some of the work being done at American Aero Services, like P-40, B-17 and the N1K1, but there is other work being as well as other aircraft on site awaiting action.

P-40 Maintenance at American Aero Services

In a recent visit to American Aero Services, this WW2 veteran P-40, was undergoing maintenance. This P-40 is a veteran of the Aleutians campaign and crashed in 1945. It remained in Alaska for close to 60 years until recovered by Chris Kirchner who restored the aircraft.

B-17 maintenance at American Aero Services

The B-17, formerly known as “Shady Lady” is undergoing work to return to flight. This B-17 is owned by the Collings Foundation. For a detailed history on this aircraft, please visit the Collings Foundation website for information.
